Anna Anguiano is a pioneer in digital marketing and has built a successful career working for large companies from the very beginning . With a marketing degree under her belt, she entered the world of digital marketing and has continued to follow her in all its aspects, becoming an expert in creating 360-degree plans and analyzing the results of online campaigns worldwide . Her experience and skills now belong to the international giant HP. She tells us about her career in the following interview.
What motivated you to study Marketing?
Just before deciding to study Marketing, I was torn between a career in Advertising or Marketing. Since I was a child, I loved watching Coca-Cola belize mobile phone numbers database commercials on television and in magazines and dreamed of one day being able to create commercials that conveyed so many emotions and truly made an impact on people. In the end, I decided on Marketing because it encompassed both the creative side of Advertising and Market Intelligence and Analytics .
You started working in the marketing department of IT Consultant, and by 2011, you were combining traditional marketing with digital marketing. What do you remember about that time? How did you get started in digital marketing? Which ones did you enjoy the most?
It was precisely during these years that the rise of Digital Marketing was beginning and when companies were turning to it as an additional form of communication beyond what was already being done with traditional Marketing , so I was fortunate enough to start the Digital department from scratch within IT Consultant, an Information Technology company. It was a challenge and an adventure since most people saw my daily tasks as just hanging out on Facebook and Twitter but not really creating significant value for the company . That was when I began to investigate and realize the huge impact that social networks were having on a business level and I took a couple of courses that helped me better understand how to create digital strategies and how to measure their results. Honestly, I really liked my day-to-day tasks since I was demonstrating to my bosses the results I was having using other means of communication, which although they didn't fully understand, they were seeing very good results.
Shortly after, you began working as a Marketing Executive for the Plexon Group, a company that has organized more than 1,000 events in major cities across Mexico. What does this step mean for your career?
Starting to work at this company made me focus my career 100% on Digital Marketing , working with a larger team, and allowing me to begin collaborating on projects internationally in the United States.
