Interestingly, local search results with a Google Local Pack did not follow the usual pattern of interactions typically observed in traditional organic search results without a Google Local Pack.


Without the Google Local Pack , but with a traditional search engine results page (SERP), the number one position commands the lion's share of interactions and each subsequent link receives fewer and fewer clicks.



However, with Google Local Pack, all three positions experience large gains ,physician data with the second position consistently seeing the largest gains. This result suggests that once consumers are presented with a Google Local Pack, they primarily consider factors outside of the position to make their selection.

The most important factors influencing consumer decisions
While position certainly influences visibility, factors beyond position come into play after a Google Local Pack is presented. When consumers were asked which factors were most important in a Google Local Pack, they cited "being the first result on the page" least often.
All results are based on statistical analyses of more than 25,000 business locations from over 350 brands. While locations regularly receive traffic from hundreds or even thousands of keywords, many long-tail keywords send relatively few users to the listings.

That's why uberall has focused on a single 'lead' keyword for each brand, based on the term that consistently drives traffic to that brand's Google Business Profile (GBP) listings.



Uberall then conducted multiple regressions for each location, using local search ranking as the independent variable and GBP clicks and views from January 2018 to February 2020 as the dependent variables. Average improvements were calculated by taking the median results from all locations in each grouping. All presented data are statistically significant at the 99% confidence level.



To understand the factors consumers use when choosing between businesses when presented with the Google Local Pack, uberall, in partnership with Zogby Analytics, commissioned a survey. The survey was conducted in September 2020 among more than 1,000 U.S. adults aged 18 or older. Survey participants were fairly distributed across the U.S. and represented a diverse sample of age groups, genders, ethnicities, education levels, income levels, and number of children.
